Between 2015 and 2016 I raised nearly $4,000 for the YWCA via the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” program. This program raises funds for the sheltering and assistance of women in situations of domestic violence. I chose this program because both myself and my mother experienced violence in our home when I was growing up.
The first year I teased that if I raised enough money I would do the walk not only in high heels but a dress. It worked and we raised a good amount of money. In 2016, we upped the ante with the chart below and the final outcome. It worked again! We raised just over 2K that year.
This year I did a personal donation of $1,000 to YWCA Brandon since I couldn’t be there in person. It’s not only important to me to support the cause, but to remember where I came from.
